Homework This Week
- All homework can be found in your child's agenda.
- We post homework to our boards daily and remind students to write it down. It is their responsibility to ensure they have their homework.
- Please check your child's agenda nightly to ensure they are writing in it. This helps us encourage responsibility as students move toward fifth grade.
Note: Students have been challenged to write one interesting thing they learned from each of their classes every day. Please check this out and see what neat things we are learning in school each day! :)
PoLICIES
Google Classroom
Google Classroom will be used to supplement student learning and complete some assignments and assessments. This platform is a form of the flipped classroom model and a valuable tool for teachers to determine student needs. It is not a substitution for classroom learning, but a tool to accompany classroom learning. Due dates are listed on assignments in Google Classroom. If your child has a question about their assignment, I am happy to answer any questions. However, please help them verify that their question has not already been answered. I will make announcements, as needed, to clarify instructions and update students on expectations, assignments, etc.
Homework in Agendas
Each student is responsible for writing their homework assignments in their agenda. If you do not see an assignment in their agenda, but see homework posted on the website, please remind them to keep up with their agenda reminders. This helps keep parents, students, and myself updated each day. Although I do not personally check the agendas of each student, I will be sure to remind students to complete their agendas when assignments are given.
Weekly Homework
One of the best ways to increase vocabulary and strengthen comprehension is practice. Students should be reading each day for at least 15-20 minutes outside of school. I know schedules can be tight, so here are a few reading time ideas:
If students do not complete their assignments in class, I ask that they take them home to complete them. This helps keep our class moving and helps us focus on review and new learning each day.
No-Name Policy
Work submitted without a name on it will lose 10 points. Students are reminded 1-2 times as each assignment is given to put their name on their work, and often times prior to submission. No-name work often takes a good bit of time to track down during grading and delays grade submissions. My hope is that students will work on this simple, but important, task to avoid zeros for no-name work as they move up in grades each year.
Test Prep Policy
Any time tests are scheduled, students will be asked to write their test date in their agendas at least 1-2 weeks in advance. Additionally, students will be given access to all of the materials they need to study, including their interactive notebooks and textbooks. Supplementary materials may be supplied on our classroom website or Study Island. I will make note of any supplementary materials via email.
Fidget Policy
Your child's learning is our top priority. Please no fidgets in class, unless your child has a diagnosed need for the fidget. These items can be distracting and hard to maintain control of during class time. I am happy to speak further with families about options I can provide to help with focus as well.
Thank you for your understanding and respect of our classroom policies. Now, let's have fun and learn! :)

- Integrate reading into your night time routine prior to bed
- Read after dinner, or in the car after practices/events
- Read on the way to school
- Read while waiting for the bus or if your student is a car-rider
